Lib Dem policy and my views
I have campaigned to scrap the house of lords for an elected upper senate with elected lords, get a funded system for political parties by savings made by scrapping the house of lords and mp allowances and create jobs with these savings in parliament and encourage people to be part of election system, local and national referendums and i am for the mayor voting system which gives a person two votes so he/she can vote for two parties, a person’s preference voting would count in an election this would help labour in tactical voting situation in scotland, england and wales and the lib dems in certain areas. The mayor election in london in 2008 showed how the conservatives could win on 2nd preference votes instead of first past the post.
this is what nick clegg has said:
“Today I’m setting out a plan of action to get all the changes we need delivered in just 100 days – making it possible for MPs to be sacked by constituents -california system ,
- abolishing the House of Lords – excellent,
- getting corrupt money out of politics – brilliant
- and changing the electoral system to give everyone a voice - not sure about this but it might be worth giving two votes for a person pick two parties like mayor system, this is something i think is one best things out there in terms of voting.
People will say it isn’t possible – parliament can’t act that quickly. I say the innate conservatism that marks out our political establishment is part of the problem. Let’s stop all this self-congratulatory hype about the mother of parliaments and get on with improving it.
