Pakistan’s chance of the world cup being held in pakistan are slim if any.
The pakistan cricket board (pcb) have suggested to the icc to have neutral venues in uae to host the games. When the pakistan’s politicians such as imran khan have suggested a swap with austrailia and new zealand for 2015 world cup.
Pakistan, India, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh would hold the 2015 world cup and austrailia and new zealand would hold the 2011 world cup.
Pakistan should look at it own country to host the world cup games.
This can happen if the pakistan cricket board (pcb) decide to set up a league to attract players from overseas based on 20 20 in winter months when cricket is not being played internationally or at icc level.
A cricketers association can be set up to help this process and improve the local game, stadia, coaching standards etc.
The PCB should battle the icc on this issue of hosting to help themselves and other countries in asia such as sri lanka with end of tamil battle, bangladesh with border guards and india with simi and al qaeda threats and bombings.
The other countries dont realise they can be victims of a terrorist attack later on and closer to 2011 world cup. They should ask the question what will the icc do in that case.
Will the icc stop the tournament from happening and move it to another year or shift the tournament to another continent such as the champions trophy in relation to pakistan and sri lanka which has gone to south africa.
Sri lanka i can say that they will possibly lose out if the same decision is made by the icc in terms of champions trophy as they were the back up to pakistan and they did not get the icc tournament in their country.
The icc should carefully think about pakistan and the world cup in 2011 due to terrorist threats in other countries and plan for changing of tournament and swapping of the host countries to later dates.
