salam alaikum

I want to ask people in pakistan media about pia and sale of new york and chicago space for airplanes to go from pakistan to the usa.

I know that us pakistani origin people are not top of the agenda for most pakistani journalists and i know pakistani journalists dont care about money coming in to pakistan from us from poor us pakistani people sending it to their relatives in pakistan

But i hope that you can see what is going to go wrong once pia sell off their landing space in the usa.

I ask you to express your views of your readers to pm and president of pakistan that people in pakistani community in us to look on them favourably as in terms of remittance, business deals, tourism, relatives and bonds between pakistan and people of pakistan origin in the usa.

I suspect bad decisions can be made about those landing slots, they are very hard to get and very easy to sell off.

Long term pakistani community in usa will increase in new york, california, texas, florida and chicago areas of the usa and short term thinking by pia management will reck long term profitably and foreign direct investment deals from the usa

Tax reform on income tax and gst tax

My plans for tax reform in pakistan to get everyone documented in terms of tax in pakistan

All based on more money coming in and reduction of government spending

reduce gst from 17-25% to 15% gst with further reduction 12.5% gst within 3 years and then 10% gst over 5 years
in return for lower taxation 0-2 lakhs – 50 rupees taxation for everyone
10% between 2-4 lakhs income , 22.5% 4-6 lakhs , 25% 6-8 lakhs and 30% at 8 lakhs over annual income tax

For infrastructure funds and sukuk bonds to build infrastructure projects. Investment tax credit for those investing in infrastructure or sukuk bonds to finance infrastructure projects and this means either reduction in companies tax for companies investing or tax reduction for individuals or reduction on dividends taxation on sukuk or infrastructure funds listed on the stock markets in karachi, islamabad and lahore. Investment tax credit would be upto 5% more you invest then in tax in you pay if company or individual.

This is all based on collecting higher federal exercise duty and agriculture tax and higher exports and forex tax.

I think PIA are trying to cut costs on flights and i think its good for PIA to cut costs on loss making routes.

They should similar deals eastwards of dubai/abu dhabi/qatar with a middle east airline and similar deal with people get one of these airlines that operate out of dubai/abu dhabi/qatar and turkish airlines to do a deal with a us carrier.

The other thing they should bulk buy planes together turkish airlines, any of middle airline and the asian group that pia are part of at the moment.

By doing this pia can lower costs of new planes.

The danger PIA faces is that it will not be able to operate cities that have large pakistan populations like new york for new jersey and PIA customers go elsewhere to other airlines as they think PIA have gone out of business.

I strongly suggest that keep a PIA plane their profitable flight time from new york and chicago and link the two cities together on a flight path by london heathrow to pakistan based on one of the routes for once of a week. So a route of chicago based on new york most popular PIA flight time going through london heathrow and then on to pakistan to help make sure people know PIA is still around. I think this will make the most money.

In reality it means lower fares for PIA passengers as turkish airlines have low costs and flights wont fly empty as much as before.

I have piac.com.pk and turkish airlines website and seen the fares are now very similar to each other.

The good news is the break down of fare prices so you can go business class to pakistan and come back economy class to london or other cities so that you spend lots of money in pakistan while on holiday. The fare is same as fare previously on PIA for economy seats.

I personally think the airline PIA should lower business fare to book up the front of the airline to less 400 pounds to get people to fly business class instead of economy, more money for same number of people just slightly more money for a business class seat than economy which is an unique selling point. The profit per flight rises and maybe economy prices can go lower and therefore more people book seats more with PIA.

Muslim leagues and PPP government letter

As it a new year

I put forward my strategy to get gst down to 15% from 17% to 25% for the muslim league parties:

This is my view that i want to say to the muslim league parties and the ppp government:

agriculture tax collect as company tax at 20%
give 5% off companies and individuals on tax as investment tax credit, the larger amount invested the biggertax break if they give money to government infrastructure projects or hydel or solar power projects or wind power projects, education and health funds/sports funds
public version of sukuk bonds for general public to invest in to cover all types of pakistan government companies and projects
soft loans to business/individuals to do business that repay on time to cover new advanced machinery/new shops/new factories as long companies and individuals good track record of repayment of more than 3 years for banks to lend
5 rupee on pakistan currency transactions added to value of rupee and money split between forex and reduction of gst in pakistan
export bureau established to fax big companies in other countries in terms of retailers and manufacturers with prices of goods to get bigger export contracts overseas.
most of government infrastructure funded by sukuk or public+company funds
i saw this on fbr customs http://www.fbr.gov.pk/newcu/TARIFF/2010/Chapter98_99.pdf – the federal exercise duty (FED) is 16 per cent it should be raised to 17 or 18 or 19 per cent.
tax rebate for all individuals based new revenue as above.
bio petrol and bio diesel – the difference between production price and selling price used to lower gst.
increase of ghee locally by lower tax for those who set up new businesses for 3 years such as local ghee instead of producing malaysian at 10% company tax.

The current PPP government to raise federal exercise duty as stated on the customs page for services from 16 per cent by either 1 to 4 percent upto 20 per cent. I recommend 18 per cent or 20 per cent on federal exercise duty and then the current government should reduce gst from 17 to 25% down to 15% overall gst.

I think the ppp government should not do rgst as they dont have the votes in parliament and as i have found something that is already in place in customs tax called federal exercise duty on the Federal board of Revenue website.

I strongly urge people to vote muslim league in any general election coming up in 2013 or nazim election in 2011 hopefully inshallah.

i want to ask whose idea was to claim a person is a national hero and he is not dead and he is not any national hero and also why are you repeating a fake death in pakistan news does your television station not have any other news???

Also a question for all of you when will wise up to not running stories where you disgrace real national heroes of pakistan by having this fake person said as a national hero when he is not clearly not

He has not done fuck all to be a national hero let alone be governor of punjab.

Also the amazing part is that you dont report real news in pakistan anymore you just reporting garbage as news . I am told “that he is gay” was that a major part in your decision to report rubbish.

Show real news in pakistan, if this bloke dies in reality show it and show what he really was which is a nobody put up by a bunch of english people in london to do a plan of rubbish variety

USC – Utility stores corporation

I saw articles about Utility stores corporation and the government plans for it. This article is about the pakistan government fight against inflation which has always been a problem in pakistan for a long time.

I strongly suggest that utility stores buy things at a greater discount to what they purchase currently and ask for bigger discount and sell things cheaper based on discounts given to them on supplied goods. The utility stores group should make a profit on purchase and should be able give the public lower prices eg USC buys sugar at 30 rupees a bag in Pakistan and sells it at 50 rupees a bag making 20 rupees a bag of sugar. USC finds sugar at 15 rupees a bag from Iran so USC buys the sugar from Iran at 15 rupees a bag. USC sells the sugar from Iran at 35 rupees a bag. Making a profit 20 rupees on each bag of sugar. The public gets sugar 35 rupees a bag from USC and USC still makes a same profit and inflation comes down to lower prices of sugar. Sugar prices fall in Pakistan thanks USC getting it cheaper from Iran.

Also the utility stores should look at importing goods at cheap prices from other countries which have supply at cheap prices to break the price monopoly of high prices in pakistan and inflation as well from countries such as Saudi Arabia, Kuwait,UAE, Bahrain, Oman, Qatar, China, Sri Lanka, India, Bangladesh and Iran.

This way the inflation or price rises that Pakistan has seen will go down and people will be able to buy cheap goods in Pakistan.

It simple supply of goods at cheap prices and finding the same goods for cheaper in other countries, then selling them to the public at a profit.

WAPDA

Salam to all happy new year

I watched Mr Kaira, the federal minister of information on television about PSM, WAPDA and Pakistan Railways. Also he mentioned PEPCO as well.

PSM and Pakistan Railways i have talked about a lot in the past to newspapers. In this column i want to talk about WAPDA and its losses

In 2006/2007 WAPDA had too many staff and making lot of losses, i think they turned it around i think.

Using electricity companies making losses charge more electricity wise for people and companies to pay to get out of losses instead of removing what is causing the loss.

If you have a large unserviceable debt, ie debt which costs to repay and as a result you cannot get out of the debt, you must renegotiate the debt so you can pay it off otherwise every year will make losses and not make a profit.

So a sukuk bond would no.1 choice for WAPDA for each entities to have a sukuk covering them so that they would be debt free on launch when the government of Pakistan decide offer for auction, place shares or IPO to the public each company.

I suggest arab sovereign wealth funds and wealth mgmt funds in pakistan are sold some of the companies in WAPDA instead of a flotation. The purpose being a successful sale of companies within WAPDA. This way good money comes into the account of Pakistan government and a good management of wealth fund or wealth mgmt fund is put as in private equity deal.

I strongly suggest for pakistan to launch 2 funds for infrastructure projects like bridges, roads and power projects ie hydel and solar, where the people or public and companies invest in the the two funds for good return better as in tax return is cheaper than a IPP or RPP.

These 2 funds would invest in projects in pakistan and make money on roads and bridges by people using the roads/bridges and power projects would make money by selling electricity in bulk to people and companies.

Also world bank should be also involved in WAPDA plans for electricity and reservoirs.

I strongly suggest to people in pakistan government that they change the plan that WAPDA have here:

So every project generates power even reservoirs by micro hydel so WAPDA get the money invested returned to them and WAPDA can build other things.

All of the debt problems that WAPDA and PEPCO have is due to heavy reliance on IPP/RPP contracts that are too expensive and oil/fuel which costs too much and maybe too many staff members.

WAPDA need to go micro hydel power projects, solar power projects, other renewable energy projects and gas powered projects. Gas produced in pakistan would be cheaper than imported gas.

Railways in pakistan and profit by line

The staff strikes what you can do is say to them that a percentage of profit on a line will be paid to the staff. If a line is in profit, the staff get a percentage of the profit added to their salary as in profit share but by railway line instead of company profits as pakistan railways is in loss as a company

This encourages staff to turn around loss making lines in to profit by selling tickets cheaper or new ways to sell tickets such as schools/universities or different locations to railway station. Sell tickets in bulk to a shop near buy who sells on the tickets for trains making the line a profit. The pakistan railways issues a set number of tickets to be sold on bulk basis to shops, that pakistan railways sells them at a discount in a bulk sales every week/month and makes sales and line goes into profit.

General rail travel tickets for locations like karachi, lahore, islamabad, multan, peshawar, quetta, rawalpindi should be done also or this should be bulk sales tickets i say above in previous paragraph. You give half morning and half afternoon tickets to the utility stores, banks and petrol stations like pso and sell to these outlets at discount. Sales invoice print out with the general rail ticket.

Also pakistan railways should look at touchscreen phones for purchasing tickets with icons of pakistan railways.

Also touchscreen sales screen at karachi, lahore, islamabad/rawalpindi, quetta and peshawar so that ticket counter is not busy. These should be at major railways and security cameras to watch over them. These will take mobile phone credit for payment or credit card/debit card. If mobile phone payment then sms number shown and tickets printed out by touchscreen sales screen and sales invoice. Also the sms number should be typed in if ticket purchased by mobile phone sms system below to obtain tickets and sales invoice.

As for normal mobile phones. sms number for booking on railway train times shown on a sms to mobile phone user. The credit on the phone pays for the ticket or tickets. The purchaser gets sms numbers by sms of date of train, then sms back for train times and booking another sms, and collects tickets at the railway station or any bank/petrol station/utilty store as in a general ticket with a print out of sales invoice.

sms should cost 0.5 paisa each one to make sure maximum usage of mobile phone sales. The number of sms should be quite large making pakistan railways lots of it . They can raise cost to 1 rupee per sms put to allow maximum usage 0.5 paisa.
